A couple more offerings for Tuesday’s update. The first is steeped in North American folklore • a sterling jackalope on the run. Paired with a 16” string of Poppy Jasper beads. The second, a Raven skull • Symbolizing intelligence, transformation, and wisdom. Resting on a 16” string of green goldstone beads and hand hammered sterling charms. Available 3/24 7pm EST

The first to be finished for next week’s update! These wild things hit the shelves next Tuesday at 7pm EST. cóyotl necklace • coyote derives from this Aztec word… symbolizing cleverness, adaptability, a “trickster”. Owyhee Jasper stones flank this hand-sawn coyote on a sterling chain. 16” in length. Eddy Earrings • A calm current. These studs are topped with polychrome Jasper and crafted with sterling distressed paddles attached. All stones cut and polished by @stoneycuttingco

Next little collection of wild things is in the works. I’ve really been taking my time with these pieces- sawing, constructing and engraving with methodical intention.. not rushing the finish and letting the process get me through. It’s been a real treat to steal away the hours this week to get these wares started. I have also been spending time musing on what I want Burn + Bloom to be in this new year and moving forward… putting effort again into the process and not just the end result. It has led me to sign up for artisan markets, work with other local small businesses for artistic collaborations, reach out to wholesalers and also find the confidence to start offering one-on-one beginner metalsmith classes in my little cozy studio. (More on that later) It’s not the whole picture, but this shift in mindset has led to a lot of little pieces that make me really happy and excited. Date for next release to come soon.

One of the first earring designs I made were turquoise and porcupine quills.. I think I made about 20 pairs before retiring the design, feeling like I could do it better. 5 years later- I have taken the bones of the old design, turquoise beads, large porcupine quills that were sitting in an old box and silver tubes crafted to look like .22 shells to create these fierce looking earrings that I am very thrilled about. Also hot off the bench • this stoic winter scene encapsulated in a thick bezel of sterling silver. Ivory variscite and soaring hawk under a full sun on the reverse. Size 9.5. Simple and well stated. Available this Thursday 7pm EST

Some things I have been doing lately to feel grounded in the world today: •Being outdoors. A lot. In many forms. •Reading •Staying informed •spending time with friends •Learning how to knit •Having more intentional conversations •Cooking new recipes •Educating myself on how to vote in line with my beliefs. •being fully present in the studio •snugging my little family by the woodstove •making moves for our future •enjoying life’s little bits of magic •Calling the NH reps Here are a couple of wares that were crafted from a moment I had in the woods about a month ago. I was walking on a trail I’d been to dozens of times, rounding a corner- I stopped in my tracks. Before me the sun was hitting the freshly fallen snow perfectly.. vibrant bursts of blue, orange, pink and purple were all laid about like gems on the surface. I stayed a while and just marveled at how vivid and abundant the colors were. A little bit of magic in what was an ordinary day. Available next Thursday with a handful of others

After an incredibly picturesque and sporty mountain bike ride yesterday we made our way back into town to check out @coppercanyonlapidarysedona We got to spend a few hours with the owners and lapidarist, Mike and Courtenay. They kindly let us into the workshop, office and showroom and equally shared our enthusiasm at the treasures we came across. Mike even cut some cabs of rare Maw sit sit for us while we were there! It was an absolute joy to pour over their collection… talk jewelry, listen to their knowledge of the craft and share the love of all things Grateful Dead. Feeling super lucky to go home with my own little stash of cabs from them. As well as a slab of burro creek agate, local to the area! We are headed to the Arizona tomorrow for 8 days of mountain biking, hiking, rock shopping, and adventuring in the Southwest! Ready to soak up some desert weather before settling back into a hopefully very snowy winter at home. (Any Sedona or Flagstaff recs, let me know!) we’ll be back just in time to dive head first into all the holiday celebrations with our loved ones.. with some very needy pitties in tow. I will also be teaching my first “one on one” metalsmithing instruction!
